Food Service Supervisors, Clinical Nutrition Supervisor, Clinical Dietitians,
Bakers, Cooks, Diet Office Workers, Food Service Workers, Kitchen
Helpers, and Coffee Shop Workers
PURPOSE:
The Director of Food & Nutrition Services is responsible for providing
leadership to the Association’s food service and clinical nutrition activities,
which include providing a variety of appetizing and healthful meals to patients,
employees and visitors, inpatient dietary education and consulting the “Home
Delivered Meals Program” and catering special events.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service Delivery:
1.
Serves as a subject matter expert in food service and clinical nutrition, related JCAHO
standards and relevant state regulations.
2.
Plans and executes service delivery based on Association’s mission and assessed needs.
3.
Develops and ensures adherence to policies, procedures, and methods.
4.
Coordinates and collaborates with other leaders.
5.
Enhances community’s access to care by managing and enhancing market share.
6.
Manages department’s IT applications including enhancements and installations; ensures
development, maintenance, and availability of related staff competencies.
Resource Management:
1.
Develops capital and operating budgets.
2.
Monitors adherence to budget; analyzes and acts on variances.

Ensures optimal use of supplies, space, and equipment.

activities.

Other Related Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Attends department director/management meetings and is a member of other hospital
committees as assigned. This includes serving as chairperson as assigned.

May assist with department services and procedures when staffing and/or workload
fluctuations occur (within the limits of collective bargaining agreement).
3.
Uses Meditech modules efficiently and effectively to include e-mail, budget planning and
variance as well as data storage and retrieval.
4.
Responsible for providing a safe work environment within the department by:
-performing duties in a safe manner
-identifying unsafe actions or conditions
-assisting in the correction of safety problems
-following established safety rules, safety policies, and special situation plans (e.g., fire,
alert, disaster, orange alert)
5.
Adheres to Association and departmental rules and policies related to employment at
Riverview.
6.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the VP-Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:
1.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition required; Master’s Degree in
Healthcare related field preferred.
2.
Minimum of two years management experience in an institutional food service operation
highly preferred.
Skills:
1.
Reads and comprehends complex written materials such as contracts, government
regulations, and other agency requirements.
2.
Uses effective oral and written communication skills and is able to make effective group
presentations.
3.
Comprehends and makes mathematical computations including addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division and statistical applications.
4.
A strong working knowledge of PC-based business applications such as spreadsheets, e-mail
and “Outlook”.

Licensure or Certification:
1.
State of Wisconsin Restaurant Manager Certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1.
Works in a lighted, heated, and air-conditioned facility.
2.
Periodically works weekends and evening hours; provides management support during offhours.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1.
Requires standing, sitting, walking, and bending. Sitting involves at least 2/3 of the time
with standing and walking at intervals.
2.
Requires lifting up to 25 lbs. Intermittently.
3.
Involves repetitive finger/wrist movements continuously.
