STUDENT PROFILE
Sandi Win Thu
My name is Sandi Win Thu. I am from
Myanmar. I am a junior and majoring in
Biochemistry. As an international student,
I am very thankful to have wonderful
professors at UW-Stevens Point. Most of
my professors are very nice and helpful.
I also appreciate the faculty members’
welcoming and friendliness throughout
the time that I have been spending in
the U.S. I am a part of the International
Club student organization which gives
me new experiences in leadership. I
enjoy doing fun things with my friends
too. Moreover, UW-Stevens Point has
helped me to increase my confidence
level by working as a student employee
and doing an independent research
project with my professor. It has been a
great opportunity for me to have a great
community in Stevens Point. I would like
to thank everyone who has supported and
encouraged me thus far.
ISSO Summer Plans:
WOW! Another group of successful
graduates! Summer in Stevens Point
means my neighborhood quiets down
and I hope to begin a project with Dr.
Marcus and Constance Fang- more
information in the next newsletter. We
are working on updating the materials
we travel with and I hope to touch base
with many International High School
counselors at a conference this summer!
We hope to be getting in touch more
and more Alumni this summer.
Martha
I am looking forward to a visit to China
in late June. I will be in Kunming, Xi’an,
Shijiazhuang & Beijing. I’d love to hear
from you if you will be nearby!
Brad
This summer, I am planning on
attending two conferences (One in St.
Louis and one in New York) where
I hope to learn more about how to
support international students through
programming and other activities. If
any current students have ideas for a
summer trip or activity with the ISSO
(i.e. baseball game or beach day), let me
know! I’d love to connect with students
who are staying her this summer!
Melissa
I will be working on a HUGE scanning
project of all our former international
student and ESL student files. We have
no more room to store the student files.
I’m looking forward to seeing how
many students have passed through
our program. Will let you know
how many there were. Have a great
summer!!
