No. 2.16 Programme Title : Certificate course in 'Creative
Writing and Translation'.
The Department of languages at NCERT has developed a new bilingual (Hindi &
English) course in 'Creative Writing and Translation' for Higher Secondary Stage. The
Course has also been introduced by CBSE in the schools. There is a felt need that
language teachers not only require training in this course but also need to develop
creative skills among themselves. Theproposed certificate course will give teachers an
idea how to run this course at the school level and also to those who want to learn about
creative writing, translation and media writing. The course will be useful for both
teachers and students to combine the knowledge of language & literature with everyday
social experiences and the discussions associated with them.

To prepare resource persons for the course in 'Creative Writing and translation'.
To understand translation as a creative activity.
To became familiar with media writing.
To develop creative expression.
To familiarize teachers on how to develop materials for learners for this course.
Methodelogy :
This certificate course will be of 4 weeks duration. The transaction will be in face to face
mode through discussions, lectures, workshops, group work, pair work, presentations
(audio- video) and projects. One field visit will also be organised. The participants will
get an opportunity to have face to face interaction with eminent litterateur, artists and
media persons.
