English candidates 77%
scored “exemplary” or
“superior” in the area of

scored “satisfactory”
and 7.7% scored
“unsatisfactory”.
The remaining areas are
as follows: Classroom
Environment= 84.6%,
7.7% and 7.7%.
Instructional Delivery=
84.7%, 0% and 15.4%.
Professionalism=
61.5%, 23.1% and
15.4%.
There were a total of 9
students who completed
the English Unit Plan in
Spring 2014. All 9
students scored “Target”
or “Acceptable” on all
of the NCTE Standards
assessed using this tool,
except one student who
scored “developing” on
the first set of standards.
Teaching English and SPED

students’ “Block” classes.
This appears to have made a
difference b/c all 6 English
candidates earned a ‘Target’
on their Portfolio.
This must be brought to the
attention of the instructors of
SEDU 465: Instructional
Techniques for the Teaching
of English so that all of these
areas are thoroughly
addressed and continue using
the PDE 430 form and have
all instructors assess
consistently.
