Position Long Assess allegations to determine whether children under the age of 18 years have been abused, neglected
Description
or are legally dependent according to GS 7B-101; assess current safety and ongoing risk of harm to
children in residential settings; provide services to enhance child and family well-being. This position
primarily services families who speak Spanish. This position will be interviewing all children, parents and
caretakers; conducting criminal and other data system checks; making home assessments; working
closely with other professionals as necessary; documenting all case activity; preparing records for transfer
to other child welfare providers when necessary. Also, a thorough knowledge of current law, policy and
effective social work practice must be maintained by the employee. Also required will be preparing court
reports; testifying in court; placement of children; making appropriate service referrals for the family;
assisting other agencies when one member of a family resides in Wake County but is involved with child
welfare services in another county or state. This position will provide services to Spanish speaking
families.
*NOTE - A criminal background check will be conducted.
