Moving and Learning
Residency Grant
This year, HL was awarded a Moving &
Learning Grant where we have Kaye
Standke, a Yoga Calm Instructor coming in
Kay Standke
for six weeks to present in four of HL’s
classrooms. Kaye will model the breathing
ball, stillness & self-regulation.
Art to Remember Fundraiser Linda has worked with Art to Remember for
a number of years. Last year, she worked
Linda Hansen
with 3rd grade only where student art is
transferred onto various items that parents
can purchase if they wish. The finished
products are delivered to HL in early May
just in time for Mother’s Day.
School Start Time
Discussion questions for Site Council
Discussion
meetings:
• Elementary parents: What do you
believe are the earliest and latest
times elementary-age children should
be walking to/from school or waiting
at a bus stop?
AM: Earliest 7:40, latest 9:25
PM: Latest 3:45
•
All parents: What would you like the
administration to consider during the
school start time discussion?
-Car accidents involving HS
students, -Accommodationsstudents consuming caffeine drinks
in the AM
-Impact of latchkey kids with later
start (study all kids K-12)
-Start of evening activities (sports,
church, dance, etc.)
Site Council agreed
that Linda should
continue working
with just 3rd grade
on this fundraiser.
--Some kids have jobs (not
optional)
- Appointments (dental, ortho, etc.)
- Breakfast program
- Parents’ work schedules
- SAC-are kids ready for academics
after 3-4 hours of SAC in AM?
- What will SAC be impacted?
Start & end times?
- Possibility of more open
enrollment across the district
•
Bond Updates
All parents: Any changes to bus
schedules would likely result in
increased transportation costs. What
budget cuts would you propose to
offset increased transportation costs?
- How about the revenue from high
school permit parking?
- Can the number of HS buses be
decreased? What is the percentage
of kids being bussed?
- No elimination of art or music
programs
Chad presented the construction &
implementation schedule for district schools.
