Parent Newscast
Bonnie shared Highland’s Spring MCAIII scores as compared to the district’s
overall.
In the fall, students (gr. 2-5) take the
MAP test which now only covers math,
the reading portion has been dropped.
MAP results help teachers develop
instructional strategies on students’
strengths & weaknesses.
Chad shared Highland’s Site Plan –
Highland teachers met their goal this
year so Highland receives $100 per
teacher.
If a school doesn’t meet their goal, that
school receives staff development
money for teacher training.
Chad shared the School Start Times
Review-Timeline & Process: fast
timeline to result in a Jan. 25th special
School Board planning meeting.
Lots of research/medical data involvedlogistics will be key.
Chad has sent the first Highland parent
newscast using supetube-sent to families
via listerve. Would like to use this form
of communication in between our four
Principal Newsletters to update families
on timely events. Plan to get students
involved with this newscast as well.
Since there are many different ways to
communicate now (paper, email,
facebook/twitter, supetube) Survey
parent (via Survey Monkey) to find what
communication source works best for
them?
