Trial set in fatal accident in Ames
AMES, Iowa An Iowa State University student accused in a fatal hit-and-run in
Ames will go on trial later this spring.
Twenty-year-old Shanda Munn, a junior from Lawler, was arrested last month in
the death of 20-year-old Kelly Laughery, an Iowa State sophomore from Orient.
Munn is charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.
Her trial is set for May 23rd in Story County District Court.
Laughery was found lying on the side of a road in Ames in December. Authorities
say she was walking along the road when she was hit by Munn's car.
Police say Munn was drinking at a party before the accident.
