ISU police make arrest in hit-and-run death
AMES, Iowa A northeast Iowa woman has been arrested in a hit and run collision
that killed an Iowa State University student.
Shanda Munn, of Lawler, faces charges of homicide by vehicle and failing to stop
at an accident resulting in death.
Police say the 20-year-old Munn had been drinking at a party and was under the
influence of alcohol when she struck and killed 20-year-old Kelly Laughery on
December 3rd.
Police say Laughery was hit from behind while walking along a street in Ames.
Munn was registered for the fall semester, but an Iowa State official is unsure if
she is currently attending classes.
