ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
70% of your grade is based on evaluations taken throughout the course. They may be in the form of
oral/written tests, performance tests, essays, learning logs, conferences, or projects/presentations.
30% of your grade is based on a final evaluation. The evaluation may take the form of an exam, a
performance task, a presentation, an essay, a portfolio, or any other method of evaluation suitable to
the course content and expectations. There are no exceptions as it is considered essential.
In every unit there will be at least one essential summative evaluation that must be submitted as well
as minor assignments. If an assignment is not completed by the due date, students will have to
complete the task on demand during class time or during lunch. An evaluation will be based on the
work completed at this time.
Academic integrity is the submission of original work. Plagiarism, cheating, and other
misrepresentations will not be tolerated. Please see the student handbook for our policy regarding
this topic.
The Ministry of Education Expectations for this course curriculum specify that daily participation for a
sustained period of time is essential. Students therefore must participate regularly in a balanced
instructional program that includes both community and school facilities. Participation is also
essential if students are to demonstrate that they have fully understood course content, particularly
in terms of personal safety. To achieve this, students must be in attendance and participate on a
daily basis. This forms the basis for assessment and evaluation for every student.
Your achievement will be assessed and evaluated in 4 different categories:

others in harm’s way, will be removed from this course.
• Personal safety is the number one consideration when approaching the health benefits

preparation and risk management. Drugs and alcohol use is not acceptable and
students will be immediately removed from the course if found in contravention of
school policy. As well, any students behaving in a manner which the instructors deem
endangering the safety of students will be removed from the course immediately.
