their chosen character using the appropriate structure. The process begins with creating and describing their
chosen main character and setting to using a narrative plan to record the key ideas for the orientation,
complication and resolution. From their plan, students will create simple and compound sentences to compose
their narrative, including adjectives, synonyms and correct punctuation.
Reading
The students will be introduced to the key features of Traditional Tales. For example, orientation,

characters. Through these, the students will practise reading aloud with fluency and expression and using
different tones and intonations for different characters.

predictions and connections, synthesising and inferring. From this, they will write open-minded portraits using
figurative language.
