Historical Narrative
You are going to write a personal narrative, but you must be 1
of the following characters:
-Slave
-Pilgrim
-Native American
A narrative tells a story. You will tell a story about a point of your life where you
have encountered a problem as 1 of the characters above. Here are some
examples:
Slave Problem: Being taken from home in Africa and forced to do hard labor.
Pilgrim Problem: The founding of Plymouth, or The Mayflower Compact
Native American: The 1st time you saw a white person.
MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS:
LITERARY DEVICES:
 Characterization: At least 2 complex (round) characters (other than the one you
chose above) in a believable setting.
 Exciting/engaging plot (series of events)
 A major conflict
 A resolution
 Theme***
PAPER REQUIREMENTS:
 Length: 5 paragraphs at least 5 sentences each
 Typed in Times New Roman, Size 12, Double Spaced
 Title
 Heading
 Use of at least 5 vocabulary words highlighted (anything over that is extra credit)
 Must be logical
 Use of variety of sentence structures
