Build Vocabulary: Prefixes and Suffixes
1. Break students into groups based on need
2. Students who scored low in Vocabulary will benefit from this
task
3. Have identify any unfamiliar words in the passage and
determine if the word can be broken down to figure out its
meaning
4. Students should isolate the root word and any affixes and
think about their meaning
5. Finally, students should infer the meaning of the entire word
by putting the meanings together
6. Students should work in pairs or groups of four to complete
the tasks
7. Students are to discuss the assignment with their
partner/group as they are completing each task; however,
every student is to complete their own assignment and have
their own finished product to turn in
