that you will grow with. Congratulations on beginning your Mary Kay business and welcome to our brand new
fantastic unit: Joni’s Jems! I am so pleased with your decision to start a career with the #1 Best Selling Brand of Skin
Care and Color Cosmetics in the United States since 1993. You will find that our company is comprised of women
from all walks of lie who are ready and willing to help you be successful. Joni’s Jems is a group of women who truly
believe that it is neither by coincidence nor accident that you are a member of our team. You are exactly where you are
supposed to be. Welcome to the beginning of your journey in Mary Kay.
The first few weeks of your Mary Kay career may feel like a whirlwind. However, once you have completed your
initial New Consultant Training and checklist, you will be better prepared for success.
This business is terrific because you NEVER stop learning, and you always have opportunities to grow. In the
beginning of your career, you will make up for any lack of knowledge with enthusiasm. Your attitude is one of the
greatest influences on your success. As Mary Kay herself says, “You can do everything right with the wrong attitude
and fail to succeed, but you can do everything wrong with the right attitude and succeed beyond your wildest dreams!
I will work together with you to reach the goals and dreams YOU wish to attain for yourself. My hope
and goal for you is success. Only you can decide how far you want to go, but know that I am here for you every step of
your way up the ladder of success in Mary Kay. As your Director, I am your business advisor. I am here to guide you
in your Mary Kay career. Remember that this is your business – success will be yours because you will decide what
you want. You are in business for yourself, but never by yourself! I will believe in you 100%. Mary Kay taught me to
reach for the dreams that I have for myself and my family. My hope is that you also learn to dream and succeed. God
plants dreams in our hearts. He will also equip us to reach those dreams and make them reality.
My goal for you in Mary Kay is to train you, guide and mentor you, and motivate you to wherever you want to
go with your business. My job is to do exactly that. I will help, encourage, and cheer you on to have the most
successful business possible. My love to you is unconditional though my time is not. When you attend the meetings,

Independent Sales Director Joni Cool
Joni has been married to Matthew for 3 years. They grew up together since birth on the same
street. They live in Gettysburg, PA. Joni joined Mary Kay in August of 2008 while working as a
Counselor and Behavior Coordinator of Juvenile Delinquents at a Military Residential Facility.
While the work was rewarding, the schedule was taxing, and the days, night, weekends, and
holidays schedule got to be to much, she burnt out because the schedule didn’t work with her
family nor fit in with her priorities of Faith and Family coming before Career! She called her
director and created a plan for her to be able to replace her income so she could leave her job.
After just 6 weeks of working Mary Kay consistently as a business holding 2-3 classes a week, she
was not only able to replace her income, but also able to exceed it, and in May 2009 quit her job!
The following month, in June, she went on target to earn her car, and earned it in September. In
July she went into Qualification to become an Independent Sales Director and Debuted
November 2009.
Joni has 60+ consultants entrusted to her leadership and quickly building to 100. She has earned
the use of 2 Mary Kay Career Cars I just 7 months! She is currently driving the 2010 Chevy
Equinox and in her unit is in Qualification for the Pink Cadillac!
Joni’s Mary Kay Career has bought her family a houseful of gifts and prizes including appliances,
house ware decorations, diamond rings, and 2 trips around the world. Because of the freedom
and flexibility this business affords, Joni was able to be the sole provider of her family for 2 years
while Matthew was recovering from surgery.
If Joni could have asked Mary Kay Ash one questions before she passed it would have been, “How
could I ever thank you for helping me become all that I could and using all the gifts the Lord
blessed me with?” Mary Kay Ash’s response would have been, “Pass It On.”

Preparing yourself for your Mary Kay Business is a lot like a pilot preparing for flight. They use
many detailed CHECKLISTS. This is done in order to ensure a safe and successful flight.
Success in your Mary Kay Business is very similar. This workbook is designed to prepare your for
your take off, flight, and landing.
o Create your Contact List of 75+ people you know. (Who would you invite to a big wedding? 300
invitations is average for a church wedding) Don’t prejudge. You will invite these women to be your
first practice faces for your Power Start. Put their names on the Leads sheet and put in your 3
ring binder (your “brain book”)
o Be a “7 day Wonder” by selling 20 items in your first 7 days (using the Look Book)
o Log onto www.thepinkplan.com and log in your information and print to add to your brain book
o Attend your first weekly meeting! Bring a friend for special recognition!
o Schedule 8-10 appointments in your date book using the Power Start Booking Script
o Schedule a time with Joni to have your New Consultant Orientation Training
o Log onto www.markayintouch.com and set up your password, email address (use your full first and
last name only – its easy for your customers to remember)
o Order your Business Kit
o Set Up your Pro-Pay Account
o Purchase a 3-ring binder for your Brain Book! Create 5 sections:
1) weekly plan sheet/ tracking forms
2) company/unit promotions
3) leads/contacts
4) customer list
5) training materials/handouts/this packet etc
One of the most IMPORTANT forms of communication each week with your Director is your
Weekly Accomplishment Sheet. Be sure to Submit your Weekly Accomplishment Sheet to
your Director NO LATER than Monday at 9am so you will receive the recognition you
deserve. Even if there is little or nothing on it for that week, still submit it! These sheets will
also help at TAX time to track all your expenses! A copy of the Weekly Accomplishment
Sheet has been added to this packet, but you can also submit it online on InTouch under
“Business Tools” and then “Weekly Accomplishment Sheet.”
Your Weekly Plan Sheet is another tracking material you will want to use weekly. Sit down
withy our family and plan out your week. While it is a great privledge to work for ourself it is
also easy to not work if you don’t have a plan! Create your Plan then Work your Plan. A
copy of this is attached for you also. First put in your hours you work at your J.O.B the put
in family time, personal quite time, your Mary Kay Meeting, and anything else that week.
Then where there are 2-3 hour time slots, schedule parties/classes/facials! I choose to color
code mine, I use Pink for MK meeting, blue for family, orange for my quite time, Yellow for
J.O.B, and then Green for MK appointments because we make money there!

I love doing skin care classes!! I make them fun, meet new people and make great money. My classes hold because I
coach the hostess well, and I make her feel like my partner in the class. Because I help her stay excited, this paves the
way to a great class. I sincerely compliment each guest and make them feel important.
I work consistently and persistently toward my goal. I am always a Star Consultant. The prizes, recognition and praise
I receive make me feel I can reach new heights. I look, act and feel like a winner because I believe in myself and so does
everyone else!

I drive my new Malibu to classes, unit meetings and all over town. This is even more exciting than I thought it would
be! The sense of pride and accomplishment that I feel when I drive my car is overwhelming. This beautiful red car is the

that I earned the use of it.
