LANDESVERBAND DVG AMERICA (LV DVG America)
2014 Treasurer’s Reports for General Membership Meeting Report
Explaining event fees, new member fees
Quarterly financial reports from DVG Germany are sent to various officers at
the club, KG, and LV level. These reports show the dues and fees charged to the LV’s
account. DVG Germany charges fall into two broad categories, member’s dues or
event-related fees. At the end of this document there is an example of the report
and a key explaining the column titles.
Currently the LV annually collects a new member fee of $ 40 US (shown as
$10 and then $30) and an event fee of $ 20 US per club. Historically, these fees were
intended to cover DVG Germany’s charges for new members and events. Looking
first at the new member fee, DVG Germany charges the LV 20 Euros per new
member. DVG Germany indicates 190 new members in 2013. Now touching on the
event charges every trial is assessed 5 Euros (non-refundable), and each DVG
member participant is assessed two recording fees that together total 1.25 Euros.
This breaks down per trial participant as .75 Euros for VDH and .50 Euros for DVG.
What LV America Collected in 2013
For example, the LV collected, in 2013 with 70 clubs, at $20 per club, a total
of $1400. In addition, with around 190 new members, at $40 each, a total of $7600
was also collected. Summing these (($5700 + 1900) + 1400) equals $9000. This is
the amount that the LV has to apply forward. See Table 1 below.
What DVG Germany Assessed 2013
Now lets look at what DVG Germany assessed for 2013 for new members and
then trials. The reports show the new member’s fee totaling 3800 Euros (20 Euros
for 190 members). Next we find that the trial fee assessments. A total of 58 trials
were scheduled (@ 5 Euro’s each) for a total of 290 Euros. With a total of 375
participants recorded (@ 1.25 Euros each) for a total of 468.75 Euros. Summing
these we have an assessment of 843.75 Euros. Adding the two assessments together,
(for new members and then for events) we have a total assessment of 4643.75.
This table summarizes the figures above and then shows a conversion to US
dollars for comparison. The conversion rate of 1.4 US$ to 1 Euro was used and
includes any banking fees.

These figures indicate that, for 2013 we collecting enough funds to cover club, KG
and LV event fees. However, in 2014 we have fewer clubs and also fewer new
members (168 thru October 1) so the LV portion of the new-member-fee will be less.
As event fees are published by Germany at the end of the calendar year so a
complete accounting will be given then.
