TWO HANDS TO THE BALL



This program is working on our players taking two hands to the ball at all times.
As coaches error detection is crucial
At no stage is one hand acceptable taking or defending the ball.
Drill One – In Twos – static passing (13s) – movement passing (14s+)
13s – Drill One
Stand on Court – using one transverse line


50 x chest passes (ensure chest to chest; no chicken wings; step forward
opposite foot to throwing arm; flat and hard) – remember two hands catching
50 x shoulder passes (ensure high release; strong flat; step forward opposite
foot to throwing arm;) – remember two hands catching
14s+ - Drill One
Stand on Court – using one transverse line
Player with ball stands here
Worker stands here




Worker moves towards the ball – receive a strong catch two hands
Returns the pass quickly and hard
Moves back to starting position
This is completed x 20 and rotate
Detection Errors



Passes weak; not flat; not to the correct position moving player above the
shoulder
Worker needs to continue drive until ball in hand
Worker should not turn her back on the ball when moving back to starting
point
13s – Drill Two
Stand on Court – using one transverse line
Player with ball stands here
Worker stands here




Worker moves towards the ball – receive a strong catch two hands
Returns the pass quickly and hard
Moves back to starting position
This is completed x 20 and rotate
Detection Errors



Passes weak; not flat; not to the correct position moving player above the
shoulder
Worker needs to continue drive until ball in hand

Thrower passes the ball in the middle of the two players
Two players using two hands try and catch the ball cleanly
Player who receives the ball throws back to the thrower
