Limassol is one of the most important tourism, trade and service providing city with
the biggest port in Mediterranean transit trade. It is renowned for its long cultural
tradition with many museums and archaeological sites. City’s tourism is based mostly
on cruises. Attracts a wide range of tourists offering luxurious hotels, high quality
service restaurants and night spots thrive along the beach. There are plenty of hotels
from 5 star deluxe hotels and resorts to low budget pansion and guesthouses. The
reason why the area of Limassol had such a rapid industrial development is due to its
good climate conditions all year round, included winter months and the high level of
modern services (e.g. telecommunications, banking, medical) and infrastructure (e.g.
roads). It is a major city of commerce transaction and services, it has the biggest and
most modern port and it’s surrounded by beaches, archaeological attractions, and
natural beauties. Limassol has received the “Silver Award 2011 Excellent in Identify”
and additionally it falls to the 50 best destinations in Europe “Quality Cost 2011 South
European Top 50”. Limassol’s Marina has received the award for “Architecture
Multiple Residence” at the International Property Awards 2011.
For the year 2017, one Cypriot and one Danish city will be designated as European
Capitals of Culture. Limassol has already announced that it shall lay claim to this title,
something that can influence the success of city. It looks forward to benefit itself but
