Open-label
-a trial that is not completely blinded, typically in that subjects and physicians have knowledge of the assigned treatment
factorial design
-an experiment whose design consists of 2 or more factors, each with discrete values or "levels"
-allows researchers to look at how multiple factors affect a dependent variable, both independently and together.
Composite endpoint
- combining several events such as death, myocardial infarction, or stroke into a single study outcome.
unpaired t-test
-a statistical procedure that compares the averages/means of two independent or unrelated groups to determine if there is a significant difference between the two
censoring
-subjects who either die of causes other than the disease of interest or are lost to follow up
subgroup analysis
- a type of analysis done by breaking down study samples into subsets of participants based on a shared characteristic
to identify similarities or differences in the magnitude of treatment effect among different categories of patients
What is the purpose of a subgroup analysis?
the probability of dying or experiencing the event; given that patients have survived up to a given point in time
What is the dependent variable in Survival Analysis?
P- value
the probability of obtaining results at least as extreme as the observed results; assuming the null hypothesis is correct.
discrete variable
a variable that takes on distinct, countable values. ex: judge ranking a performer 0-10.
continuous variable
a variable that takes on any value within a range, and the number of possible values within that range is infinite.
