Numeral systems

  • Counter (digital)
In digital logic and computing, a counter is a device which stores (and sometimes displays) the number of times a particular event or process has occurred, often in relationship to a clock signal.
  • Duodecimal
The duodecimal system (also known as base 12 or dozenal) is a positional notation numeral system using twelve as its base.
  • Binary number
    □ In mathematics and digital electronics, a binary number is a number expressed in the binary numeral system or base-2 numeral system which represents numeric values using two different symbols: typically 0 (zero) and 1 (one).
  • Numerical digit
A digit is a numeric symbol (such as "2" or "5") used in combinations (such as "25") to represent numbers (such as the number 25) in positional numeral systems.
  • Quipu
Quipus, sometimes known as khipus or talking knots, were recording devices historically used in a number of cultures and particularly in the region of Andean South America.
  • Suzhou numerals
The Suzhou numerals or huama is a numeral system used in China before the introduction of Arabic numerals.
  • Leading zero
A leading zero is any 0 digit that comes before the first nonzero digit in a number string in positional notation.
  • Decimal
The decimal numeral system (also called base 10 or occasionally denary) has ten as its base.
  • Signed number representations
In computing, signed number representations are required to encode negative numbers in binary number systems.
  • Babylonian numerals
Babylonian numerals were written in cuneiform, using a wedge-tipped reed stylus to make a mark on a soft clay tablet which would be exposed in the sun to harden to create a permanent record.
  • Names of large numbers
This article lists and discusses the usage and derivation of names of large numbers, together with their possible extensions.
  • Computer number format
A computer number format is the internal representation of numeric values in digital computer and calculator hardware and software.
  • Repeating decimal
A repeating or recurring decimal is decimal representation of a number whose decimal digits are periodic (repeating its values at regular intervals) and the infinitely-repeated portion is not zero.
  • List of numeral systems
This is a list of numeral systems, that is, writing systems for expressing numbers.
  • Algorism
Algorism is the technique of performing basic arithmetic by writing numbers in place value form and applying a set of memorized rules and facts to the digits.
