Nerves

  • Cervical plexus
The cervical plexus is a plexus of the anterior rami of the first four cervical spinal nerves which are located from C1 to C4 cervical segment in the neck.
  • Nerve
A nerve is an enclosed, cable-like bundle of axons (nerve fibers, the long and slender projections of neurons) in the peripheral nervous system.
  • Brachial plexus
The brachial plexus is a network of nerves formed by the anterior rami of the lower four cervical nerves and first thoracic nerve (C5, C6, C7, C8, and T1).
  • Terminal nerve
The terminal nerve, or cranial nerve zero, was discovered by German scientist Gustav Fritsch in 1878 in the brains of sharks.
  • Mylohyoid nerve
The mylohyoid nerve (or nerve to mylohyoid) is a nerve that innervates the mylohyoid muscle and the anterior belly of the digastric muscle.
  • Parotid plexus
The parotid plexus or pes anserinus ("goose's foot") is the branch point of the facial nerve (extratemporal) after it leaves the stylomastoid foramen.
  • Autonomic nerve
The autonomic nerve is a small nerve which carries postganglionic sympathetic and parasympathetic neurons from the zygomaticotemporal nerve; a branch of the maxillary nerve, to the lacrimal nerve; a branch of the ophthalmic nerve.
  • Pelvic splanchnic nerves
Pelvic splanchnic nerves or nervi erigentes are splanchnic nerves that arise from sacral spinal nerves S2, S3, S4 to provide parasympathetic innervation to the hindgut.
  • External laryngeal nerve
The external laryngeal nerve is the smaller, external branch (ramus externus) of the superior laryngeal nerve.
  • Deep petrosal nerve
The deep petrosal nerve (large deep petrosal nerve) is given off from the internal carotid plexus, and runs through the carotid canal lateral to the internal carotid artery.
  • Nasopalatine nerve
One branch of the pterygopalatine ganglion (Trigeminal nerve, Maxillary branch), longer and larger than the others, is named the nasopalatine nerve (sometimes called the long sphenopalatine nerve).
  • Mental nerve
Mental nerve is a sensory nerve which provides sensation to the front of the chin and lower lip as well as the buccal gingivae of the mandibular anterior teeth and the premolars.
  • Vascular nerves
Vascular nerves are nerves which innervate arteries and veins.
  • Lumbar splanchnic nerves
The lumbar splanchnic nerves are splanchnic nerves that arise from the lumbar part of the sympathetic trunk and travel to an adjacent plexus near the aorta.
  • Sacral splanchnic nerves
Sacral splanchnic nerves are splanchnic nerves that connect the inferior hypogastric plexus to the sympathetic trunk in the pelvis.
  • Caroticotympanic nerves
The caroticotympanic nerves are nerves which supply the eardrum ("tympanum") and carotid canal.
