Astrological signs

(Not to be confused with Pisces (constellation).) Pisces (♓) (/ˈpaɪsiːz/, pis'eez; Ancient Greek: Ἰχθύες Ikhthyes) is the twelfth astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the Pisces constellation.

Planets in astrology have a meaning different from the modern astronomical understanding of what a planet is.

Ophiuchus (⛎) (/ɒfiˈjuːkəs/) has sometimes been used in sidereal astrology as a thirteenth sign in addition to the twelve signs of the tropical Zodiac, because the eponymous constellation Ophiuchus (Greek: Ὀφιοῦχος "Serpent-bearer") as defined by the 1930 IAU constellation boundaries is situated behind the sun from November 30 to December 18.

(Not to be confused with Aquarius (constellation).) Aquarius (♒) (Greek: Ὑδροχόος Hydrokhoös, Latin: Aquārius) is the eleventh astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation Aquarius.

Cancer( ♋️ ) (Greek: Καρκίνος, Latin: Cancer) is the fourth astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Cancer.

(Not to be confused with Virgo (constellation).) Virgo is the sixth astrological sign in the Zodiac.

(Not to be confused with Libra (constellation).) Libra (♎) is the seventh astrological sign in the Zodiac.

(Not to be confused with Capricornus.) Capricorn (♑) (English pronunciation: /kæp.rɪ.kɔːn/) is the tenth astrological sign in the zodiac, originating from the constellation of Capricornus.

In Western astrology, astrological signs are the twelve 30° sectors of the ecliptic, starting at the vernal equinox (one of the intersections of the ecliptic with the celestial equator), also known as the First Point of Aries.

(Not to be confused with Sagittarius (constellation).) Sagittarius (♐) (Greek: Τοξότης Toxotes, Latin: Sagittarius) is the ninth astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Sagittarius and spans 240–270th degrees of the zodiac.

The zodiac is the circle of twelve 30° divisions of celestial longitude employed by western astrology and (formerly) astronomy.

Symbols used in astrology overlap with those used in astronomy because of the historical overlap between the two subjects.
