What is a case control study?

An observational study assessing the association of an exposure with a disease. Uses cases (people with the disease) and controls (people without the disease).

Statistical precision is improved by decreasing the number of controls. True or false?

False; it's improved by increasing the number, however 4 should be the max.

What is the difference between probability and odds?

Probability - the measurement of how likely someone believes a particular event/action is to occur.

Odds - the chances in favour of the event to the changes against it.

Define these:

OR = 1

OR > 1

OR < 1

OR = 1 - no association

OR > 1 - suggests risk; positively associated

OR < 1 - no association or is a protective factor
