Shelia believes that Gerald is judging her actions towards Eva Smith

In reference to Mr Birlings remarks on the Inspectors impression on Shelia. Priestley is telling the reader that the younger generations are more open to different views and opinions, such as his socialist ones

Shelia is starting to see that there isn't a different in classes (apart from wealth)but Shelia and Eva Smith are both just people

Mrs Birling believes that because she is in a place of power, she has power over the Inspector.

This is in response to Gerald's confession that he slept with Daisy Renton (Eva Smith), because Daisy was both a lower class and "a woman of the town" Gerald sleeping with her would be a social crime. Mrs Berling doesn't care that Gerald has cheated on her Daughter (Shelia)

Priestley always tries to present Eva Smith as a sympathetic character as to try to convince the reader to his thinking and beliefs

Shelia is talking Gerald and how because of what has happened that night, they don't know each other anymore. Shelia need to get to now him all over again

The Inspector is telling Mr Birling that because he is rich and powerful his privileges comes with responsibilities.
"public men, Mr Birling, have responsibilities as well as privileges"
Stage Directions- shows how both Mr and Mrs Birling are starting to loss control to the Inspector and have stop becoming their emotionless self
