Welcome to Rutland Middle School and to grade 7 Social Studies! Over the next ten

Mrs. Piche

months, we will be learning about the Ancient Worlds, which include Mesopotamia,

Egypt, India, China, Greece and Rome, as well as pre-history, geography, and a unit entitled Caring for the Young. We will be using a text book entitled Outlooks 7: Ancient

Worlds to guide us through the year.

Assignments

Students will be expected to apply knowledge and critical thinking skills through larger individual or group projects. These may include research, preparing oral presentations, making artifacts, role playing, charting and/or web quests.

At RMS each student will have opportunities to develop and demonstrate their skills as

21 st century learners through project-based learning and TC2.

Assessment

Assessment will be ongoing in the classroom and will be based on a 4 point scale.
