Welcome to Rutland Middle School and to grade 7 Social Studies! Over the next ten
months, we will be learning about the Ancient Worlds, which include Mesopotamia,
Egypt, India, China, Greece and Rome, as well as pre-history, geography, and a unit entitled Caring for the Young. We will be using a text book entitled Outlooks 7: Ancient
Worlds to guide us through the year.
Prescribed learning outcomes are statements of what students are expected to know and do by the end of this course. Students will be expected to apply knowledge and critical thinking skills through larger individual or group projects. These may include research, preparing oral presentations, making artifacts, role playing, charting and/or web quests.
At RMS each student will have opportunities to develop and demonstrate their skills as
