Objective:
Today you will compare theme across two mediums: movie and literary
selection.
Movie:
Radio
- How are the themes in Radio and The Scarlet Ibis related? Which story
makes the strongest point in support of its theme? Why? How are the
characters similar/different?
- To what degree are people responsible for the well-being of those who can’t
help themselves? In the past four stories, Radio, The Scarlet Ibis, The Gift of
the Magi, and The Most Dangerous Game, various philosophical questions
are raised with regard to strong vs. weak beings.
- In The Scarlet Ibis, is the brother (narrator) regarded as the antagonist? How
does his character compare to that of Zaroff?
- In Radio, did the coach do everything he could to protect Radio? Was
protecting Radio his responsibility? Is Radio’s mother a good mother?
Why/why not?
