MODE of INSTRUCTION and COURSE ACCESS
This is an online course using the TAMUCT Blackboard system http://tamuct.blackboard.com . You
will use the Blackboard username and password communicated to you separately to logon to this
system. Students will access all course materials and communication via the Blackboard course web
site.
The Course Outline in this Syllabus shows the schedule for the semester. The course is divided into
weekly units, with all assignments due Monday at 11:30pm. Note Week 8 differs slightly from this
schedule to meet end of semester deadlines. Students should plan their study and assignment
completion deadlines carefully in accordance with this schedule. Online learning requires students to
be very self-disciplined; be sure you understand and are prepared to comply with all required class
assignments and deadlines.
This course requires approximately 15-18 hours per week time commitment. If you are not prepared to
commit this amount of time to this course, consider taking it in an alternative format.

COURSE OVERVIEW
Catalog Course Description: Students develop an integrated strategic, operational, and process view
of the organization. Focus is on operations, marketing, information systems, research processes and
statistical techniques for decision making, management, leadership and ethics, and human resource
management. Students demonstrate mastery of secondary research techniques, case analysis
methodology, communication skills, and hands-on computer skills. Prerequisites: None.
OBJECTIVES / STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

Demonstrate understanding of basic terminology and concepts for contemporary Marketing
theory, Management theory, and Business Statistics.



Be proficient in researching, analysis, and writing for Management and Marketing applications.
Demonstrate the ability to apply management frameworks to solve business problems.
Demonstrate the ability to use basic business statistical analysis techniques via successful
completion of a series of problem solving exercises.
TEXTBOOK AND OTHER REQUIRED COURSE MATERIALS
No text is required for this course. Students will research assigned topics using the library,
internet, and all other available resources.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Assignments (Blackboard)
Homework assignments are on blackboard and your completed work should be submitted on the
Blackboard assignments page. You must run your written work through a plagiarism checker
(Turnitin or other plagiarism scanner) before submission. Your submission will include the
required assignment plus the results of the plagiarism checker. Written work should be 12 pt. font,
single spaced with double spacing between paragraphs. Late work has a penalty of 10% per day
late.

Extra Credit: You may earn up to 150 extra credit points by completing the three Blackboard

Upon logging on to Blackboard Learn, you will see a link to Blackboard Student Orientation
under My Courses tab. Click on that link and study the materials in this orientation course. There
is also a link to Blackboard Help from inside the course on the left-hand menu bar.

Drop Policy
If you discover that you need to drop this class, you must go to the Records Office and ask for the
necessary paperwork. Professors cannot drop students; this is always the responsibility of the
student. The Record’s Office will give a deadline for which the form must be returned, completed
and signed. Once you return the signed form to the records office and wait 24 hours, you must go
into DuckTrax and confirm that you are no longer enrolled. If you are still enrolled, FOLLOWUP with the records office immediately. You are to attend class until the procedure is complete to
avoid penalty for absence. Should you miss the deadline or fail to follow the procedure, you will
receive an F in the course.

Information Literacy focuses on research skills which prepare individuals to live and work in an
information-centered society. Librarians will work with students in the development of critical
reasoning, ethical use of information, and the appropriate use of secondary research techniques.

collections and services, identification of subject databases and scholarly journals, and execution
