Choose a film to watch on your own and
analyze for Archetypes.
Identify as many archetype people and places in
the film as you can.
Write a 1 pg. typed report on your film and its
archetypes.
You must CITE the film in your paper
Include a Work Cited page at the end of your
report
Suggested films


I recommend you choose a film you are
familiar with that ALSO has a clear heroic
journey (adventure, action, epics…)
Suggestions: Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Lord of
the Rings, Star Wars, Superman, Iron Man, Batman,
Spiderman etc…
MLA Citations

Once you have stated an idea that was
NOT originally YOURS, you must give
credit to the original author.


Includes Quotes, Paraphrases, or Summaries.
You do this by simply adding the author’s
name and the page number (if given) of the
information to the end of that sentence in
parentheses (Smith 145).
Citing a film

MLA citations for film begin with the film
title


EX: Tangled. Dir. Nathan Greno and Byron
Howard. Disney, 2010. DVD
So an in-paper citation for a film will include
the title (Tangled) instead of the author.
Example


Rapunzel is clearly a damsel in distress, as
seen when Flynn Rider assists her in her
escape and escorts her on her adventure
(Tangled).
Rapunzel’s tower represents the classic
tower archetype, a place of isolation and evil.
While Rapunzel does not recognize the evil
in her “mother”, she is certainly isolated from
society in her captivity (Tangled).
