What is an Apprenticeship
“An apprenticeship is a framework of
Nationally recognised qualifications
that an individual can undertake whilst
working to develop competence in
their chosen occupation.”

What is an Apprenticeship
An Apprenticeship will Include
• An appropriate competency qualification to
at least Level 2
• Essential Skills Wales qualifications,
• A technical qualification such as a BTEC or
City & Guilds (relevant to the specific
Apprenticeship)
• Other qualifications or requirements as
specified by the particular occupation

Types of Apprenticeship
There are three types of Apprenticeships:
• Foundation Apprenticeship
• Apprenticeship
• Higher Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship Facts
• Anyone employed, under 25 living or working
in Wales can access apprenticeship funding
• You don’t have to take on new staff, they can
already be employed with you, great for
upskilling and succession planning.
• Higher Apprenticeships are available with no
age restrictions to support the development
of your workforce with higher level skills.
