Part-Time Business Advisor Position –Bartholomew, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings Counties Description The mission of the ISBDC (Indiana Small Business Development Center) Network is to have a positive and measurable impact on the formation, growth, and sustainability of small businesses in Indiana, and to develop a strong entrepreneurial community. The business advisors role in accomplishing this mission is to be a consultant to small business clients to help them begin a business and/or to encourage growth and sustainability of small businesses. In addition, they along with the Regional Director represent the ISBDC in the community. The Business Advisor reports to the Regional Director. Provide one-on-one counseling to potential and existing small business owners. Organizes and conducts training and educational workshops. Completes brokering requests and serves in a "clearinghouse" capacity. Enhance public awareness in support of small business development. Provide general support and assistance for the SBDC Regional Office and in the implementation of its strategy plan. Serves as a liaison with local lenders and resource partners. Assists Regional Directors with programs and projects, including securing additional funding for the Center. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Sales, Marketing or a related field. Three years of experience in business and/or industry management with progressively responsible positions, which includes supervisory experience. Proficiency in software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Two or more years of ownership or senior management of a small business (significant, successful small business ownership or management may be substituted for academic qualifications.) Experience in preparing/reviewing business plans and/or business loan packages. Public and private sector experience. Public speaking and/or teaching experience. Business Acumen - practical application of business operations, including finance, operating control systems, human resource management, marketing, public relations. Capable of taking initiative to identify a client's needs using analysis, judgment, client education, client relationships, communication, networking, team orientation and persuasive presentations. Solid interpersonal skills to support the entrepreneurial spirit of others. Preferred: Research experience. Direct experience providing information, advice to counsel and training to business. Direct experience in developing and facilitating strategic planning sessions with clients. Ability to manage long-term client engagements and projects. Experience in preparing/reviewing business plans and/or business loan packages. Direct experience in developing and facilitating strategic planning sessions with clients. Experience in both private and public sector. Public speaking and/or teaching experience. Additional Information: This position is located in the above defined counties, reports to office in New Albany, IN. and is a Temporary Position. Temporary assignments are expected to continue indefinitely, managers must not schedule staff for more than 1,000 hours per year. A background check is required for employment in this position.
