UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES (UCLA) Director of Compliance - Recruiting The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Director of Compliance - Recruiting. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary range of $65,000 to $70,000/year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. The Director of Compliance - Recruiting (DOCR) reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. They will work closely together to set the policies and procedures to ensure the entire Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) conducts its recruiting practices in a manner that is consistent and compliant with NCAA and PAC-12 rules and state of California laws and regulations. The DOCR will be primarily responsible for mastering the NCAA recruiting bylaws and educating the department on those rules. The DOCR is responsible for working with each team to develop an on-campus recruiting program. Specifically, the DOCR will manage complimentary admissions, communications, campus tours and presentations, academic meetings, picnics, and unofficial and official visits. Finally, the DOCR will oversee the coordination of team banquets and socials. The DOCR should possess or be able to quickly develop a comprehensive knowledge of UCLA’s academic and athletic attributes, its history, its goals, the mission, in order to present this information to prospective student-athletes and their families. The DOCR will oversee the DIA’s database to track recruiting and compliance information, including contacts and evaluations, telephone calls, official visits, and more. The DOCR will also be expected to follow national trends in recruiting and social media and provide information to coaches. Finally, the DOCR supervises three full-time staff members and manages a team of undergraduate student interns. All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities: Five years of experience in College Athletics Administration and/or Compliance or a related field is preferred; Experience working as collegiate coach or sport-specific operational staff preferred; Working knowledge of NCAA, PAC-12, and University rules and regulations is preferred; Experience at a high Division I level institution preferred; Experience working with electronic recruiting and compliance database tool preferred; Demonstrated ability to adhere to and comply with NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations; Working knowledge of sports and athletes, specifically, UCLA sports, past and present preferred; Working knowledge of current Social Media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.; Fluency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Access; Ability to attain fluency in additional relevant computer data systems, including: OASIS, Compliance Assistant, and others as necessary; Ability to make verbal presentations and conduct education sessions with diverse audiences, including coaches, prospective student-athletes, parents, and staff; Ability to perform duties with a great degree of accuracy, meeting deadlines, working effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions and fluctuating workload; Analytical skill to evaluate information, identify and resolve problems; Demonstrated skill in working independently and following through to completion with minimal or no supervision; Demonstrated skill in editing reports, letters and memos; Ability to travel when required; Ability to work nights and weekends as required; Ability to compose concise, grammatically correct reports, recommendations and correspondence; Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with parents, student-athletes, coaches, administrators and staff; Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coaches, students, other staff members and campus administrators; Demonstrated skill in organizing and maintaining all required accurate, up-to-date accounting records for NCAA auditors, finance area and accounting; Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
