Taghreed, 1 Taghreed Alajmi English 12G Mrs.Timm 1/22/2012 Taghreed, 2 Slum Dog Millionaire The movie "Slum Dog Millionaire" was released in 2008, directed by Danny Boyle. It recounted the story of Jamal Malik ”Dev Patel” the movie’s hero. A poor Muslim orphan boy in Mumbai, who appeared on the television show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" to find Latika “ Frieda Pinto” the girl he loves. Unfortunatelly, she loves Jamal, but she could not communicate with him because she was afraid of her husband Javed ”Mahesh Manjrekar“ of destroying him. Furthermore, Salim “Madhur Mittal” is Jamal’s elder brother who grew up in the slums with Jamal and Latika. Unlike Jamal, he became a murder as he grew up. Later on, he worked with Latikas husband and killed his employer in order to free Latika. Another two important characters that added some actions to the story are Prem Kumar ”Anil Kapoor” and the unnamed police inspector ”Irran Khan”. Prem Kumar was the host of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”. He accused Jamal of cheating when he kept on winning a question after another. While, the police inspector investigated Jamal, and released him after knowing that Jamal’s life was full of experiences, through which he learned a lot. This wonderful movie script is written by Simon Beaufoy based on a novel written by Vikas Swarup. After watching “ Slumdog Millionaire” I realized that it was worth the money spent. Generally, “Slumdog Millionaire” is an excellent movie. It won many Oscars the year it was released. Moreover, it is based on a wonderful script, which showed how a simple life can create a great man. The simplicity of Jamal’s life in the movie made the scenes so close to reality. It reflected many cultural and social aspects of the Indian life. The scene of Jamal and Salims growth time frame and the sad experiences they went Taghreed, 3 through pictured a clear image of the sad lives of orphan kids. However, the actors were chosen in a precisely selective way, that enabled each actor to fit smoothly into their charectors. For example, Dev patels poor look matches very well with the story character; Jamal. To summarize, "Slum Dog Millionaire" is one of the few excellent movies to watch nowadays. This excellence was achieved by a cooperative effort from the director, writer and the actors. Personally, I recommend this movie to everyone who has not watched it. It is worth the money paid. In my belief, watching the movie “Slumdog Millionaire” is not boring at all. The two hours went very quickly, they seemed like if they were two minutes. In those two hours all the moods have passed over me. It made me feel sympathetic, sad, glad and excited at the same time.
