Approval of Minutes for Month of December
- Motion to approve minutes as presented made by – Carol Mauro

Old Business
Welcome Kit
- New members and current members will receive.
- Budget is attached to allow for committee-decided money allocation/more
transparency/checks and balances.
- Open space committee is done by zoning department, not rec commission.
- Proposed additions?
- Need to include the swearing in process details.
- Need chain of command list and duties included.
- Committee decided to table acceptance of Welcome Kit until next meeting.

Recreation Commission Ordinance Changes
- Need to iron out political presence issues for town events.
- Committee decided to table the matter of ordinances until next meeting.

Sheldon Road Update
- In November, company was hired to reseed, weed kill, mulch, and seed field
complex.
- Ordering bricks for sidewalk, special bricks to be used for major contributors.
- Pump systems being looked at to be used for irrigation.
- Looking to start a program where school-aged kids can help out with field.
- $100,000 grant being used to fund field.
- Eagle Scout has been working on nature trail.
- Looking to get benches and more mulching.
- June 1’st – Tentative opening date.
- Perhaps looking to coincide Youthtopia event and Sheldon Rd. field opening
event into same weekend.
New Business
Resignation of John Mikula
- Kristin Goodwin looking to apply for position.
- Erica Bevis has joined committee.
Harlem Superstars Comedy Group
- Event will be held on May 3’rd, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm in Griswold High School
Gym.
- Cost is $3600, which can be split between Griswold and Voluntown.
- Troopers can offer security.
- Ticket sales – Need to market the event and tickets.
- Will benefit both towns to work together on events.
- Ryan Aubin can hire a referee for the event.
- Voluntown members and Carol Mauro can work on a binder presentation to try
and get local businesses to buy in on tickets.
- Need to establish a committee liaison.
- Committee decided to vote on accepting offer from Voluntown to host event.
- Motion to accept offer made by – Randy Bronson
- Second to accept offer made by – Jill Drobiak
- All in favor.
- Tina will try to contact Project Safe Grad to sign on, which should help them out
with funds.
- Basketball group willing to meet with both schools and offer pre-game
presentations about different topics.
- Need to create a team for event. Voluntown has 6 people picked, Griswold needs
to pick people (over age 18).
- 900 people max allowed in gym.
Other Business
-Vandalism issues at JCLL park. Estimates will be gathered for cost of damages.
Public Forum
- Snow flakes in town need to be addressed and stored somewhere.
- Lights on gazebo out. Only half the lights currently working.
- Snow Flake Parade – Need more people on committee.
