 “Nursing has been limited to signify
little more than the administration of
medicine and the application of
poultices (external medicinal
preparation)”
 In early years nursing did not seek to
control its own practice

defined nursing as “the diagnosis and
treatment of human responses to
actual or potential health problems”

revised & updated to acknowledge
