Jubilee@Home (JaH) Small Group Facilitator Packet Vision: To help people discover and recover the promises of God for their lives and to equip and train them in what God has created for them. Mission: We will be intentional in establishing deeper relationships, in small group settings through activities and studies. We will provide a supportive atmosphere which will encourage growth, both relationally and spiritually, in every person. God Wants YOU! 1234- Be encouraged that God has you thinking about facilitating. You will be stretched, and this is good, it is when we grow the most. Step out in faith, trust in Him, and continue to respond to Him. Be OK with failure or slow growth; God still loves you, and so do we! Types of JAH Groups (Please pray about what type you would like to lead) Connect: Connect groups have a primary purpose of fellowship and relationship building. These can be affinity groups based on a specific activity, interest, recreation, geography, age or gender, for example. Grow: Grow groups are geared specifically to encourage spiritual growth through teaching, group study and learning. These include everything that is information or content-based, such as Christian book studies, Bible study, sermon discussions, plus support groups geared to help people overcome life challenges or to improve in other practical life skills such as marriage, parenting, and finances. Serve: Serve groups involve outreach or service to those inside or outside the church body. These can vary widely, with a few possible examples including: a handyman group, auto repair group, or hair stylists group to serve widows and single moms; feeding the homeless downtown; evangelistic outreach; or nursing home ministry. Here are some keys to understanding what submission to authority means for you: A. God is the source of all delegated authorities. He has specifically established His church to establish His kingdom. Therefore, you should submit to the pastoral staff of Jubilee Fellowship Church. B. God resists those who resist His authority, because they have resisted Him (see Luke 20:9-18). C. God promotes those who do things his way (King David in 1 Samuel 24) Please read these Scriptures: Romans 13:1 Authority instituted by God. Romans 13:5 Submit to authority Hebrews 1:3 The laws of the universe are maintained by God’s authority. Hebrews 13:17 Submit to your leaders, obey so their work will be a joy. At JFC, we believe that we must have unity with the essentials of our faith and grace in the non-essentials. What are the essentials? The sole basis for our belief is the Bible, which is uniquely God-inspired, without error, and the final authority on all matters on which it speaks. As the Bible teaches there is one God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit each possessing all the attributes of deity. God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but the defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God’s saving grace to end our alienation from Him. Salvation comes only through God’s grace – not human effort – and must be received personally by repentance and faith. Jesus Christ, second person of the Trinity, lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute. This accomplished salvation for all who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only mediator between us and God. He baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit. He will return to earth to consummate history. The Holy Spirit draws sinners to Christ and equips believers for personal growth and service to the church. At the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and the judgment. Only believers will enjoy eternal fellowship with God. What are Non-essentials? Those things that do not affect our salvation. We are all of the same family and may have to agree to disagree on some convictions that we have. Must have grace with these issues. Please read Romans 14 in it’s entirety. Jubilee Authority Structure Pastor John – Campus Pastors – Pastor Bob – Coaches Issues and questions regarding your group should first be brought to your assigned coaches. If further resolution is needed, please contact Pastor Bob at bob@jfc.org. JAH Group Structure All JAH group facilitators will have a coach that will check in periodically to see if any support, encouragement, or guidance is needed. We are here for you so don’t hesitate to ask questions, get help, suggest ideas, etc. Each JAH group is encouraged to reproduce itself. Therefore a co-facilitator should be identified (if not already assigned to group) and promoted as such within the group as soon as possible. JAH Group Protocol Keep the vision and mission always in mind no matter what the group. Meetings: Suggested at least twice a month. Understand that the people in your group are counting on you to…… Schedule the meetings and be consistent with them. Be excited about what God is doing through your group.
