PROVIDE AN OVERVIEW OF THE

NURSING PROGRAM AT DANVILLE

AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Accreditation

Danville Area Community College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools

Our nursing program is approved by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation of the State of Illinois ( www.idpfr.com

)

Our nursing program is accredited by the

Most employers prefer graduates from accredited nursing programs

Coursework easily transfers to complete BSN

80% of all RNs should have BSN by 2020

Selective Admission

Admission to the nursing program is limited and includes additional requirements over and above admission to

Danville Area Community College.

32 Level 1 students are accepted every Fall and every other

Spring (on even years 2018, 2020, etc)

Level I students are students who do not have an LPN license

Selective Admission

Nursing courses may not be taken until admitted to the program

It is preferred that students have all required general education courses completed with a B or above prior to admission

There are no prerequisite courses – students are able to take required general education courses after acceptance into the nursing program

(For an A.A. S.)

69 credit hours

21 general education credits

Drug Testing and Criminal

Background Checks

The questions on the following slides appear on the Illinois and Indiana State Boards of Nursing application.

Indiana State Board of

Nursing

Have you ever been denied a license, certificate, registration, or permit to practice as a nurse or any regulated health occupation in any state or country?
