Practice Exercises
 A student would like to take a practice test for the ACT.
Also, all of the guide books are checked out for the U.S.
History AP exam. Find these resources using Inspire.
 A third-grader is doing a short report on Guatemala. He
needs a map and a flag of the country, as well as some
basic facts about the geography of the country.
 A high school sophomore is looking for primary source
material written by Abraham Lincoln. She needs at
least one speech and one letter.
 A child comes into the library and doesn’t know what
he wants. He is reading at a 6th grade level and his
favorite class is P.E. He likes books on sports. Can you
find him suggestions using an Inspire database?

Practice Exercises
 A teacher comes into the library. He wants to know the name of a
poem he learned in school. All he remembers is that the last line is
“under an English heaven.”
 Does Inspire have access to a magazine called National Geographic
Little Kids?
 Someone calls the reference desk. The caller swears that there is a
slide rule collection at Purdue, and he made a bet with a friend. The
friend says no way, not even Purdue would have a collection that
nerdy. Try to prove or disprove the caller’s claim by only using an
Inspire database.
 A student has to do a science fair project on gravity. Where can you
find science fair projects on Inspire?
 Where did Drew Brees grow up?
 Some people in the circulation department are excited about the
new Nick Hornby novel. You heard him give an interview on NPR’s
Morning Edition some time ago, but you think your co-workers
would like to read the transcript.
