Getting your high school career

What is Freshman Focus?


A series of lessons designed to give Freshmen
the tools to be successful!
Things we will do this year:
-Learn high school graduation requirements
-Learn about special programs available to
students
-Learn types of teachers/classes for
Freshmen
-Learn about post-high school options and
what
classes you should take to meet your
goals

What does a high school Counselor do:
Possible answers:
Track student planning and graduation requirements
Help develop post high school plans
Adjust schedules to help students meet their plans
Help students who are having difficulty in school
Help students with any personal or family issues
Assist students and families in accessing resources
Teach classroom lessons on: high school pre-registration planning,
post high school planning, career interests, identifying strengths
and areas of personal interests
Write recommendations for colleges and/or scholarships

just around the corner
It is imperative that students get off to a good
start to their high school career!
