Half Day February 12th, 2016
This week students presented their mummy
projects to the class and answered questions
about their project. They began learning about
the five major world religions: Christianity,
Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism.
Students watched a short video clip regarding
their differences and similarities with the
Buddhist religion being the most different.
We discussed the population and location of
each of the five then used this information to find
the percentage and create a pie chart depicting
the religions.

*All students are required to read
at least three AR books every
marking period. One of these
books has to be based on Social
Studies.
The three AR books and quizzes
are due on January 29, 2016.
This past week students analyzed
President Obama’s national
address to America’s
schoolchildren. From this speech
students had to form an evidence
based claim on what students need
to do to be successful. Also, we
continued to read, journal, and
respond to Edmodo.com posts for
chapters 14-15 of the Module 2a
accompanying novel Bud, Not
Buddy. In addition to the novel,
students used a variety of
strategies to determine the
meaning of the following
vocabulary words: inference,
antagonist, personification, meter.
