Find Your Face Shape
Your face shape is very important when choose a wig style. There are lots of suggestions on
how to figure out your shape. Hereunder is a way to determine your face shape.
To find out the shape of your face, measure it with a tape measure. You will take the following
measurements and write down each measurement on a piece of paper
1. Measure your face across the top of your cheekbones. This is the cheek width.
2. Measure across your jaw line at the widest point. This is the jaw width.
3. Measure across your forehead at the widest point. Generally the widest point will be
somewhere about halfway between your eyebrows and your hairline. This is the
forehead width.
4. Measure from mid-point of your front hairline to the bottom of your chin. This is the face
length.

Hairstyles with fullness and height at the crown will
give the impression of a narrower face. Short hair
styles with a swept-back direction or hair styles that
are longer than chin length. Wispy fringes and side
parts are also good.
Avoid chin length hair, center parts, fullness at the
sides of ears, straight chopped bangs.

Short to medium lengths with fullness at the sides
and soft wispy bangs will soften the look. This will
shorten the length and add width to your face.
Layered styles work well and add softness to the
straight lines of your face. Center parts will also look
great.
Avoid too much length and height; it will make your
face look longer.

Short hair and chin length hair often looks great on
this face shape, as the fullness can even out the jaw
and chin lines. Chin length bobs, short shags, swept
forward layers and wispy bangs all work well. Long
length with soft forward falling hairstyle is good, too.
Waves and curls in the same shape around the
bottom of your face work very well and actually
appear softer.
Avoid full styles that emphasize your upper face
without balancing out your narrow chin.

Wispy forward falling hair onto your face will soften
the jaw line, while wearing bangs swept over to one
side will create diagonal movement to minimize
square shapes. Short to medium length hair cuts, with
soft wispy bangs and a wave or curl will compliment
and balance out your straight face shape.
Avoid any straight styles - long straight hair, blunt
bangs, straight bobs and center parts.

Avoid the short hair with height on the top with no
bangs. Try not to wear too much hair on your face,
thereby hiding your great features.

Try to stick to styles that narrow your chin and widen
the forehead. This will balance out your features.
Shorter hair that balances prominent jaw line, as well
as styles that are full at the temples that taper at the
jaw. Side parts, wedges and shags are also good
styles for you. Lots of layers will achieve fullness
through the upper part of your face. Try the styles that
allow you to tuck hair behind your ears, as this will
draw attention to your eyes and add the illusion of
width in this area.
Avoid long, full hair styles that draw attention to jaw
line and too much height at the crown. Straight solid
bob style is not good for your face shape.
