You will use the information you have found to answer the following questions. Each answer should be in proper paragraph form, at least one paragraph long, and double-spaced. Your first paragraph will be short, perhaps just one or two sentences. You will identify your book that you are reporting on, as well as the author’s name and publishing information. You can outline the different sections of your report that follow, as well. If you like, you may change the order of the character, plot, literary devices, and setting paragraphs, but the review paragraphs have to be at the end. One paragraph will be about the main character. You could describe the character in the first part, and include the other information in the second part. Make a written character sketch of one of the main characters in the book. A character sketch includes the following information: physical characteristics, personality characteristics, leadership characteristics, things that the character has learned, problems that the character encountered and solved, whether they have reached their goal, or other interesting information. Another paragraph will concern the antagonist – who (or what) prevents the protagonist from reaching their goal. Another paragraph will be about the setting. Describe the setting of the book. This needs to include all the major places that the action or dialogue occurs in, what time frame the story is set in, what events might have happened before the story starts that are important to the book, and how the setting might change throughout the book. More paragraphs will be about the plot of the story, following what you have researched about the inciting incident, rising action, and climax of the book. You will have a paragraph that shows at least 3 examples of literary devices that the author has used. Finally, you will have a paragraph at the end that gives your opinion of the book. Provide your personal review of the book. This will be your opinion of the book after you have read it. It should include whether you liked or disliked the book, backed up by specific examples of why you did or didn’t like it, your favourite part of the book, your favourite quote from a character in the book, and who you would recommend this book to. Remember, the paragraphs about character, plot, literary devices, and setting can be in any order, but the review paragraph has to be at the end. Your book report will be written in the same format as it appears in this document. This is so you can have experience writing reports in an organized manner that is common in high school, college, university, and work. Having a template to follow makes it easier for other people to read your work and appreciate the effort you have put into it. There are a few things to remember when typing a report on the computer: 1. always double-space 2. use font size 12 only 3. use a readable font (one of these ONLY: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman). You will also be required to make a title page. See the first page of this document for an example. You need to put your questions about the book on a separate page at the end.
