President’s Report – Emily Schell Jones





Welcome & Announcements
o Reggie from 4-H is leading the kids at babysitting in a healthy activity.
o Volunteers needed:
 PBIS cart- December 18th from 8:00-10:00 am
 Santa’s Yacht Club- December 19th from 9:00-10:30 am.
o Thanked Courtney Pippin-Mathur for organizing Secret Santa/Hat and Glove
Collection
Linda Williams, PTAC Rep, reported on upcoming activities: School Board Budget Forum
on December 15th, Summer Camp Fair on February 17th, and Alexandria Symphony
Orchestra concert December 20th
Dawn Luepke, Redistricting Rep, reported that redistricting has been pushed back a
year.
Sue Setliff gave an update on MSI. Invitations to Bid will go out in January. There is a
Port City fundraiser on December 22nd.
Funding Committee
o Approved motion to provide $20,000 to MSI. Motion made by Missy
Estabrook.
o Approved motion for $675 for 5th Grade field Trip to GMU for Black History
month. Motion made by Ms. Jackson.

Reported that it’s School Spirit Week
Announced that Maury has chosen not to be one of the schools Piloting the World
Language Program
Night of a Thousand Stars was a success.
Thanked Ms. Koss for the Barnes and Noble event
Shared information about the number of students projected in each grade next year, the
numbers of classrooms projected for each grade, and the district’s cap numbers for each

grade. She will work with facilities to emphasize Maury’s need for space. If she needs
support she will ask.

Blessings in a Backpack is giving gift cards to families in need for the holidays. Money
for 26 turkeys was raised at the gala.
VP of Communications Report- Charlene Nieman

The design phase is 99% complete. Phase 2 involves committee chairs writing a blurb
about their area.
Theresa Schofield reported on the goals for yearbook.

More than $38K raised at gala. If you won a teacher adventure, you will be hearing
from DeAnna Jerore.
Community Partners have given $18K.
Next Eat and Greet is January 20th at Nando’s Peri Peri.
If you mention Maury at Olio in December, they will donate 10% of those sales to
Maury.
Thanked April Blackwood and Ms. Koss for the Barnes and Noble Fundraiser
Box Tops have earned $450 this year. Drop them in a box by the front door.
VP of Programs Report – Danielle Robinson




After School Programs run from January 25th – April 22nd. On the PTA website there is a
link for registration.
There are 2 Odyssey of the Mind teams from Maury.
Health and Wellness organized the 4H program with the kids at the PTA meeting.
Watch D.O.G.S. started in late November. Look for sign up information in Tuesday
Tidings.
