GRAMMAR NOTES
Person Marker



/ Agent
In ASL some verbs can be
changed into nouns by
adding the person/agent
marker to the sign ( -er ).
It can also convey the
inflection ( -ist, -ent, -ist, or)
There are some exceptions
to this rule
Examples

Teach + person marker =
Teacher

Learn + person marker =
Student

Cook + person marker = Chef

Dance + person marker =
Dancer

Judge, Doctor, Nurse, Cop
Practice ASL at least 60 minutes per day. Make it a habit to
fingerspell and sign as much as you can!
