RESOURCE ROOM ENGLISH – 4TH & 5TH PERIODS AND MATH - 2ND PERIOD
WEEK OF 2/22/2015
MONDAY:
ENGLISH
Starters: Students receive their warm-ups for the week which will be kept in their binders. Go over and discuss warm-ups prior to completion. STUDENTS
CONTINUE TO BE REMINDED THAT WE ARE UTILIZING OUR MUGS SKILLS WHEN COMPLETING WARM-UPS! Class discussion of power point slide which
contains our goal for the class period and other info.
Focus: OGT prep
Lesson Delivery: Math OGT practice test for 2009. Read test.
Differentiation: Only students who have to take the OGT or those who have not passed the Math test.
Resources: practice tests
Assessment: BYLT: to be determined by material covered during class.
4TH PERIOD ENGLISH
Focus: Test prep
Lesson Delivery: Go over and discuss revised completion schedule, students can work independently on computers based on what they already have done
and what they have yet to complete
Differentiation: each student working independently
Resource: computers, schedule
Assessment: assessment completed and scores received
MATH
Starters: Students receive their warm-ups for the week which will be kept in their binders. Warm-up – discussion based on student needs/requests. Class
discussion of power point slide which contains our goal for the class period and other info. Discuss graded assignments being returned.
Focus: Properties of Real numbers - Chapter 2.3 Adding Real Numbers and Chapter 2.4 Subtraction of Real Numbers
Lesson Delivery: Discuss condition of assignments being received – attach papers and put names and dates on papers, worksheet reviewing rules and
properties of addition, begin work on 2.4 p. 86
Differentiation:
Resources: text, calculators
Assessment: CLASS CHECK: Round 737, 889, 152, 934, and 567 to the nearest hundred.
TUESDAY:

Starters: Students have their warm-ups for the week in their binders. We will go over and discuss warm-ups together prior to completion. STUDENTS

Acquisition and Use and Writing Grades 9-12 – Text types And Purposes and Production and Distribution of Writing
Lesson Delivery: Begin with the question – How are the sisters different?, then discuss/review the story in our Sourcebook that we started 2
weeks ago – The Richer, The Poorer by Dorothy West, review pages 113-115 already read, read and discuss work to be done on pages 112-118,
what doesn’t get done in class, is homework

4TH PERIOD ENGLISH - same as 5th only starting the same story this week – reading together in class
MATH

Focus: Properties of Real numbers – Chapter 2.4 – Subtracting Real Numbers
Lesson Delivery: finish discussing p. 86-88, assign Guided Practice at the top of p. 89
Differentiation: student using iPad mini as calculator, prior knowledge, progress according to need

Assessment: CLASS CHECK: Round the following numbers to the nearest ten: 15, 23, 37, 98, and 43.

Lesson Delivery: trade and grade Guided Practice at the top of p. 89, assign all of p. 91, students can work together, this is due Friday
Differentiation: one students uses the calculator app on an iPad mini
Resources: text, calculator, boards, each other
Assessment: CLASS CHECK: Round the following numbers to the nearest thousand: 1,234 3,456 5,678 7890, and 4,680.
THURSDAY: PARCC ASSESSMENTS FOR FRESHMEN
ENGLISH – Will depend on how long it takes the freshmen students to complete their PARCC
assessment.
Starters: Students have their warm-ups for the week in their binders and can start work on them immediately. We will go over and discuss warm-ups
together prior to completion. STUDENTS CONTINUE TO BE REMINDED THAT WE ARE UTILIZING OUR MUGS SKILLS WHEN COMPLETING WARM-UPS! Class
