PAYMENT INFORMATION
TERMS OF PAYMENT
Applicants should verify payment instructions with the Bursar at the specific campus of interest.
Students are required to pay 100 percent of their estimated amount due for the semester at least one week prior to
the first scheduled day of class. Some European campuses may require an advance payment to cover at least two
semesters in advance, for immigration purposes. Applicants and Students should check with the Admissions
Representative at their campus of interest for details.
Payment may be made in cash; by check; by wire transfer; or by VISA, MasterCard, American Express or
Discover Card [Some European campuses cannot accept checks from foreign banks and are unable to accept all
credit cards. Applicants and Students should check with the Bursar at their campus of interest for credit card or
wire transfer options. Some additional fees for credit card payments may be applied at European campuses.]
Questions regarding payment should be directed to the Bursar’s Office.
A Credit Card Mail Charge Authorization form can be requested at each campus or downloaded on the
University’s website at www.schiller.edu. In addition to handling these charges by mail, students can also
present their credit cards to the Campus Bursars. Charges assessed by banks on foreign checks or on bank
transfers will be charged to the students’ accounts.
All payments by check or bank transfer must always include student name, term of study and campus attendance.
Only Tuition and Fees as scheduled in the current Catalog Supplement will be accepted. Excess funds for living
expenses and/or housing should not be transferred to the University.
Any student who is delinquent financially will not be permitted to register, audit or attend classes, or graduate
until all charges are paid. SIU reserves the right not to release transcripts, grades, diplomas, or other records for
any student who has an outstanding account balance, is delinquent, or is in default on a payment plan.
If a student with an outstanding balance on his/her account were to separate from the institution through
withdrawal or suspension, that student remains responsible for the account balance in full. If the account remains
unpaid, then it will be sent to collections.
It is the responsibility of the student or parent to send payments promptly according to the Schedule of Tuition and
Fees. Checks should note the name of the student and the campus he or she will be attending. All fees must have been
paid one week prior to the start of classes in order for the student to register on the day of Registration. A Late Fee
applies for all students who do not pay the full semester tuition by this due date.
Delayed payment of fees is possible only after a promissory note has been signed and authorized by the Campus
Bursar prior to registration day. Students should also consider incidental costs for books, personal laundry service,
independent travel, clothing and other items that vary according to individual needs and preferences.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
As more and more companies throughout the world have become multinational, they increasingly need
executives who can deal effectively with organizational problems in an international framework. The
International Business program offered at SIU is designed to meet these needs. As students complete this
degree, they may elect to transfer from one SIU campus to another to benefit from interactions with various
cultures including the social, economic and political conditions associated with business practices in different
countries.
Objectives: Graduates of the International Business program will be able to:

The major in International Economics provides thorough training in economic theory and policy. While
these studies examine the insights of economics from the individual and firm level, to the national, and
then the international level, there is an emphasis throughout on maintaining a focus on the impact and role of
international economic relations and on maintaining an internationally comparative perspective. In addition,
the major includes courses in international business administration, international relations, and political
science. Students completing this major often go on to careers in economic or political economic analysis
within the international worlds of business, finance, or government. Others continue on to graduate studies
in economics, business, international relations or law.

AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT
International hospitality and tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in the service and business
industries. The proliferation of golf courses, tennis and boating clubs, theme parks and other leisure and
recreational activities has created a huge industry that provides many thousands of job opportunities.
SIU’s unique program offers the opportunity to study at campus locations in both Europe and the United
States.
Students completing this degree must complete the Associate of Science (AS) course requirements (60
credits) in International Hospitality and Tourism Management plus the courses listed below.
Objectives: Graduates of the International Hospitality and Tourism Management program will be able
to:
1. Apply knowledge, skills and experience through individual and team-based activities within
a multi-cultural environment.

DIPLOMACY
Political and economic problems often transcend national boundaries and encompass scientific,
technological, cultural and humanitarian concerns. The SIU program in International Relations and
Diplomacy prepares student to pursue careers in government, international organizations, law, business,
journalism, or for graduate study in political science and related areas. This degree is available at all SIU
campuses and through Online Learning. The final 30 credits must be completed in residence.
Objectives: Graduates of the International Relations and Diplomacy program will be able to:

MIM MASTER OF INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT
The MIM program has been designed to prepare students who have already completed a course of study in
a non-business field specifically for positions in international management. The 36 credit program leading to
the MIM degree may be completed at the Heidelberg or Florida campuses, or online. The course work
spans a variety of topics relating to business administration, including management, marketing, accounting
communications, business law, and economics. Upon successful completion of the program, students will
have the solid basis of knowledge which will qualify them to enter managerial positions in a broad range of
careers in international business.
Admission: The MIM program is open to qualified applicants who have earned a Bachelor’s degree or its
equivalent. No particular field of undergraduate specialization is required for admission to the program, but
a year of undergraduate mathematics is strongly advised.
Graduation Requirements: In addition to the graduation requirements for all graduate students,
candidates for the Master of International Management degree must complete the following requirements:
A minimum of 36 semester credits (12 courses) at the graduate level composed of the courses listed as
follows, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Graduate students must also successfully complete a comprehensive master’s research project and
presentation outline/defense. This requirement may be waived if the student elects the University of
Roehampton (UoR) enrollment option at the time of enrollment and completes the thesis as required by
the UoR option.
Objectives: Graduates of the MIM program will be able to:
1. Demonstrate foundation knowledge in the functional areas of a global/international business.
2. Examine and demonstrate comprehension of the complexities of global/international businesses.
3. Select strategies and tools for solving complex problems posed by managing global businesses,
and demonstrate understanding of the associated challenges.

This 36-credit MBA program is offered at Schiller’s Florida, Paris, Madrid, and Heidelberg campuses and

MBA INTERNATIONAL HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM
MANAGEMENT
This program is offered at SIU’s Florida campus and also online for those in the fields of business,
hospitality management and tourism, or related areas who wish to earn an advanced business degree.
The 45 credit program leading to the MBA degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management
may be completed in a minimum of one year and a half. Students may transfer from one campus to the other
and complete their degree requirements. Students with bachelor’s degrees in other fields may need to
complete MBA preparatory courses. This program may also be completed online.
Admission:
1. Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, hospitality, or hotel and
restaurant management, provided that the courses listed in paragraph 2 below have been completed.
2. Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related fields, such as economics, including

NURSING PROGRAM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
All students who wish to pursue the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree at Schiller
International University (SIU) must take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS®) proctored
assessment prior to admission to SIU. A minimum score of 55 is required, and students are allowed two
(2) attempts to achieve this score. The testing schedule information is available in the Admissions
office. In the event a student has taken the TEAS® at another institution prior to starting the
Admissions process with SIU, the student must provide an official transcript as proof of achieving a
score of 55 or higher. No TEAS ® result and/or transcript may be more than one year old at the time of
submission.

courses which provide a wide range of skills and knowledge. General education augments the

applied to any personal, educational, or professional endeavors. Degrees can lead to entry level positions

Students are encouraged to maintain personal health and accident insurance through an employer or
independent provider. The University does not provide any type of insurance coverage for students.
Students at European campuses may register with the National Health Insurance department in each

Insurance department. Paris campus students are advised that they can apply for a private
student health insurance, as AME, PGA, AVI International. Students with an F1 Visa are strongly
encouraged to maintain adequate F1 Visa Insurance coverage while studying in the USA. There are no
insurance requirements set forth by the US Department of State.

Presidents’ Graduate Scholarship
Up to a $6,900 (€5,100) Scholarship is available to Graduate applicants with a GPA from their Bachelor

International Scholarship Undergraduate/Graduate
This Scholarship is available to selected Undergraduate/Graduate applicants with a GPA from their
previous education of 2.50 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). Additional criteria include cultural and social
activities, volunteer work, contribution to society, and/or sport activities. Additional information and

Alumni Scholarship
Alumni of the University enrolling in an Undergraduate/Graduate degree program may be eligible for
Undergraduate: $1770.00 (€1350.00) per semester (12 credits) to be applied at the end of the semester
upon successful completion or Graduate: $2300.00 (€1700.00) per semester (12 credits) to be applied at
the end of the semester upon successful completion. Additional information and forms to apply for SIU

Jump Start Scholarship
High School students who attend SIU within 45 days of their graduation date (60 days with Presidents
approval) may be eligible for $1,500 (€ 1200) for their first semester for Undergraduate degree program

Nursing Program Scholarship
All SIU students enrolled in Core Nursing Courses with a minimum TEAS score of 60 may be eligible
for this scholarship. $525.00 per NUR course; only for Core Nursing Courses; must maintain above a
2.75 cumulative GPA or higher during the general education portion of their enrollment to be eligible.

ICT (Inter Campus Transfer) Scholarship

All SIU students willing to transfer among different Schiller physical campus locations may be eligible
for $1,770 (€ 1350) for Undergraduate and $2300 (€1700) for Graduate students per semester of tuition
fees for up to two semesters after transfer. Students need to maintain cumulative GPA above 2.75 for
Undergraduate / 3.25 for Graduate programs. Additional information and forms to apply for SIU

Diplomatic Scholarship- Effective January 1, 2015
All employees and their dependents of Embassies and Diplomatic Missions around the World with
which SIU has signed MOU agreements may be eligible of this scholarship. (Review the list of
approvals on the www.schiller.edu website. If your embassy is not listed, please inquire within your
Embassy/Mission) may be eligible for $1,770 (€ 1350) for Undergraduate and $2300 (€1700) for
Graduate students per semester of tuition fees. Students need to maintain cumulative GPA above 2.50
for Undergraduate / 3.00 for Graduate programs. Re-applying is not necessary for this scholarship;
eligibility is assessed automatically after completion of each 12 credits. Additional information and

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
All student members of the PTK Chapter/College at all levels of study who can demonstrate academic
excellence by earning an undergraduate 2 year degree and have a GPA of at least a 3.50 or higher on a
4.0 scale from an accredited institution. Must submit a Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship for Transfer
Students application and submit an essay describing the significant contributions you have made to your
PTK chapter/college and explain how an international education can benefit you. Essays will be review
by the Provost for approval. Students may be eligible for $3,000 (€2,400) per semester for Graduate
degree programs and, $2,350 (€1,880) per semester for the Undergraduate degree programs. Original
award is good for one semester, with the potential of being automatically renewed for one additional
semester. To qualify for the one additional semester, student must have successfully completed each
course with a minimum grade of a “B”. Additional information and forms to apply for SIU scholarships

Golden Key Honour Society Scholarship
Golden Key members are chosen for Membership into the Society by invitation only and apply to the
top 15% of the university sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as top-performing graduate students
in all fields of study, based solely on their academic achievements. Student must submit an essay about
“what does it means to earn your four-year degree? How do you feel this will enhance your plans and
dreams for the future?”. Essays will be review by the Provost for approval. Student may be eligible for
$3,000 (€2,400) per semester for Graduate degree programs and, $2,350 (€1,880) per semester for the
Undergraduate degree programs. Original award is good for one semester, with the potential of being
automatically renewed for one additional semester. To qualify for the one additional semester, student

Employer Reimbursement Matching Scholarship
New students that start on or after October 27, 2014 can apply for the employer reimbursement
matching scholarship if they are eligible for tuition reimbursement through their employer. Student may

CATALOG/SUPPLEMENT UPDATES AS OF 01/13/15
Effective as of 1/13/2015, Schiller International University will accept Nursing students and applicants
who have taken and passed the HESI entrance exam. Completion of the A2 Exam with a score of 75 is
required for Admission to the Associate Degree of Nursing program. This score reflects a necessary
reading, science, and math knowledge foundation to be successful in the Nursing program. The
composite scores must be at least 75 on the Math section and at least 75 on the English section in order
to be used as a substitute for SIU’s TEAS entrance exam. Students and applicants will be required to
follow SIU’s entrance requirements and transfer of credit policies. No student will be admitted without
an official HESI score report from the Registrars Office of the school where the exam was taken.
Health Education Systems, Inc. or HESI provides potential nursing students with the opportunity to
demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams related to undergraduate college
courses. Applicants are tested on Math, Reading, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Anatomy & Physiology.
SIU does not offer HESI testing at the Largo campus.
