It is simply the study of the fundamental laws of science. Materials Required : 1./ Text (issued) Physics – Principles and Problems Copyright 2009 & Online – Edition available 2./ Pencil (only) 3./ 1 3 - Ring Binder with Pockets 4./1 Scientific Calculator - TI-30X IIS ALL MATERIALS MUST BE BROUGHT TO CLASS EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!! Class Rules : 1./ Student must be in class, seated and ready when the tardy bell rings. 2./ Eating ,drinking, sleeping, talking, and walking around the room without permission is not allowed. 3./ Disrespect to anyone is not allowed. 4./ No cell Phones (An expanded explanation of rules will be given) Grading Procedures Homework ....... 33% 1st & 3rd 9 weeks. 25% of the final grade 2nd & 4th 9 Weeks. Homework will be given approximately 2 to 3 times a week and checked at least twice. Group and class participation are included. Written Test ........... 67% for the 1st & 3rd 9 weeks. 50% of the final grade for the 2nd & 4th 9 weeks. There will be an average of one test per week that will cover the preceding days work. Written tests include quizzes(1/4 of a test grade), labs ½ of a test and group work equivalent to a quiz grade Exam ........... 25% of the final grade during the 2nd & 4th 9 weeks. Exam is comprehensive for 4th 9-week period however it may require some knowledge from throughout the year. Grading Scale A....... 93 - 100 B....... 85 - 92 C....... 75 - 84 D....... 67 - 74 F........ Below 67 Honors Requirement All honors students will have extra responsibilities. Labs - There will be several labs performed each 9 weeks. Participation is mandatory and is part of your test grade. There is a $5.00 Lab Fee that must be received before you may participate in the lab. Projects - A minimum of two for the year as well as the mandatory honors requirements.(Major test grade) Time permitting Make Up Work ...... It is the students responsibility to initiate make up work. Students will be allowed to make up any work missed due to an excused absence. Homework must be made up within 2 days of returning to school. Make up test will be scheduled by the teacher.
