Multiplication (X)
Multiplication is repeated addition, it makes addition easier.
Objects arranged in equal rows form an array.
(Example: if you have a baking pan and there are 5 rows and 4
columns, you can add 5 four times and that would give you 20,
which is your answer).
An answer to a multiplication problem is called a product.
A factor from the example would be 5 or 4. It is something that
adds up to the answer.
Single Digit Multiplication
5x4 has two single digit
factors. It is easier to do.
You just add the number 4
five times or know your
times table.
Step 1: Multiply the two numbers on the right. Add that product under the equal
sign.
Step 2: Multiply the bottom right number with the top left number.
Add the product under the equal sign. That is your final product!

Step 1:Multiply the two right numbers and add that product
to the bottom.
Step 2: Then multiply the bottom right number with the top
left number, add that product to the bottom.
Step 3: Add a zero under the first product and then multiply
the left bottom number with the right top number add the
product to the bottom.
Step 4: Multiply the bottom left number with top left number and
add that product to the bottom.
Step 5: Then add both products to get your final product.
Division is like subtraction , it is repeated subtraction.
The answer to a division problem is called a quotient.
The bigger number is called a dividend, the smaller
number is called a divisor. A remainder is the leftover
number that will not divide in, it is to small. The
remainder is part of the quotient it is placed next to the
quotient.

How To Do Division
You can use multiplication when you are doing a division problem. Here are
the steps:
Step 1: Set up your division problem like this:
Step 2: See how many times the number outside the “house” will go
into the number inside the house If it is a double digit or a triple digit
inside the house it will be a little different. Look at the picture above the
number 7 is to big to go into the number 1, you will have to look at the
digit to the right now it is 16.

Step 3: Put the answer on top of
the number you just divided into.

Step 4: Look at the picture to the right. Multiply the
answer on the top with the divisor (outside the house).
Put that product under your dividend.
Step 5: Subtract and add the third digit to the right to the
bottom.
Step 6: Look at the picture to the right and do you see the last
line with 010 that is the remainder and then you write your
answer and the remainder on the top and then you are done!
