April 2014 to Date: 2.1 Vice Chancellor City University of Science and IT Peshawar Pakistan – (CUSIT) - CUIST is privately sponsored HEC recognized University Chartered by the Govt. of KPK. The University of extension pf Peshawar Model Educational Institutes ( PMEI). PMEI is one of the pioneers in the quality education from nursery to higher secondary level, which is catering for the education needs of about 25000 students of the province through its 11 Schools and Colleges. - After joining at the CUSIT, the following main areas have been addressed as per my vision as Vice Chancellor: o o o o o Capacity building of faculty and staff by engaging them in workshops, seminars, training development and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) after attaining the status of Professional Engineering Body (PEB) of the PEC. Strengthening of Faculty: Highly qualified and experienced faculty was hired in the Engineering, mathematics and Computer Science disciplines on market based competitive salaries and benefits. Development of New Research based Graduate Programs: To improve the research culture, new graduate programs were initiated in all the four faculties, which include PhD Education, PhD Mathematics, PhD Economic, MS Electrical Engg, MS Civil Engg, MS/MPhil Eco, MS IT/CS, MS Management Sciences etc. Rigorous admission process was followed in line with the HEC guidelines for graduate programs. Establishment of Organizational Research, Innovation and Commercialization ( ORIC) The ORIC Directorate was established to strengthen the environment for cutting edge research in various disciplines. Thematic research is being promoted in each department to develop research flagship in each department based on the needs of industry and society. Innovative research projects have been developed with other academic and industry partners. It has been targeted to develop at least two patents under ORIC in next one year. Strengthening of Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC): The quality outcomes have been defined and targeted in all components of the Learning Management System (LMS), starting from Curriculum Development/design, delivery, assessment and feedback. The role of QEC 3 o o o o o is critical to achieve these targets. Rigorous curriculum revision and review process has been initiated in all departments. The online surveys as prescribed by HEC are used for the feedback from various stakeholders. The Quality Monitoring and Controlling process has been appreciated by the HEC/PEC. National and International Collaboration: National and International collaboration has been strengthened in the areas joint research, faculty exchange, students exchange, sharing of research data, supervising students’ research theses and projects etc. In this context, City University is partner with East Carolina University USA, Aristotle University Greece, Florida International University USA and Auburn University US) A for “ 8th International Conference on Construction in Twenty First Century ( CITC-8)” to be held in May, 2015. SIT also arranged “First International Conference on Emerging with East Carolina University USA and Auburn University USA in Dec 2014 at Pak China Friendship Centre Islamabad Pakistan. Industry Academia Linkages: Close interaction and collaboration has been initiated with industry to focus on their problems and develop cost effective solutions for the same. The industrial representatives/leaders are invited to University for delivering their lectures and talks. They are also engaged in the various committees and bodies for course review and development. Their due input is utilized for the development of new courses and programs. Outcome Based Education and Assessment (OBE): To develop the graduates at par with the national and international market demands, Outcome Based Education has been focused.
