Citizenship Essay Topic: Ancient Greek citizenship verses American Citizenship Task: Write a 4-5-paragraph essay by answering the following: The Founding Fathers of the United States borrowed the idea of democracy from the Ancient Greeks. Explain the criteria for citizenship in Ancient Greece. Describe the criteria for citizenship in the United States Compare and contrast the ideals of citizenship in Greece and the United States. (How are they similar? How are they different?) List ways people in both ancient Greece and the United States serve their country. Where do you feel there is more of a sense of duty to serve, in the United States or ancient Greece? Instructions: Essays must be type written. Classroom computers, library computers and the Nutley Public Library computers are available for use. Class computers are available before and after school. Follow the rubric to be sure to meet all of the criteria. Essays must have a good opening or topic sentence(s) and a closing sentence(s) that ties up all the points made in the essay. Essays must be double spaced, be written with 12 font and in New Times Roman. Essay must have a title. If you do additional research for your essay, please cite the sources of the information in a bibliography, (Use easybib.com and list on a separate page) In the top right hand corner of the essay include your name, period and the date.
