RUOnline New Features in Blackboard Learn 9.1 for RU Faculty Kristin Broadwell, Director of Distance Learning Lynette Washington, Distance Learning Program Specialist Display Course Menu in a Window List View Folder View My places provide a pop-up window that give you a one-click access to all of your courses within blackboard. The edit mode toggle switch enables and disables the editing of course content. When the edit mode is on, you are able to build and edit your course content. When the edit mode is off, you are viewing the course as a student would. Before using “Tools” make sure the edit mode is on. Mashups allow you to find content outside of Blackboard and bring it into your course. Mashup provides a simple way to add multi media to your course without having to create it yourself. You can add a single page of content as an applicable link to a content page using the blank page tool. A blank page is different from a content folder or item and that there is no description that appears in the content area. Adding blank pages to a content area limits scrolling and streamlines the content area. A lesson plan is a container for content, similar to a content area or folder. It allows you to present a lesson profile and objectives alongside content items students needed to complete the lesson. You can develop lesson plans for your own personal use or use it for to present content to students. All or part of a Lesson Plan can be shared with students. So basically, Lesson Plans help students understand the objectives and intended result of their learning. Blogging is a collaborative tool allows students to post their personal reflection about the course or discussion and analyze course materials. Wikis are used to create a streamline experience/collaborative space where users interact with each other in the same area where they discover content. A link can be connected to an existing Wiki or a new Wiki can be created and linked. All students can view, contribute and edit the content. Journals provide personal writing space to students for self reflection or private communication with the instructor. Journals are created by instructors only.
