FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 5, 2014 Contact: Kate Tedford (408) 603-4405 ktedford@pcdeli.com POTATO CHIPS DELI RETURNS OUT OF NOWHERE AFTER NINE-MONTH LONG VACATION Steven Arroyo reopens his beloved deli at its new location LOS ANGELES, CA—Today, LA restaurateur, Steven Arroyo, and his culinary team, Amanda Kobritz, Preston Trites and Luis Garcia, along with Arroyo’s celebrity crew, which included Drew Barrymore, Scott Caan, Curtis Kulig and Steve Olson, hosted a grand reopening of Arroyo’s restaurant, Potato Chips Deli, at its brand new location, 308 N. Stanley Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90036. Arroyo takes LA foodies by surprise with the reopening of his neighborhood sandwich joint, Potato Chips Deli, after closing the restaurant’s doors last July. The deli opens at a new location, features a virgin culinary team of three and showcases a modified menu with the addition of two savory sandwiches (a caprese and a steak), fresh squeezed mint lemonade and homemade chocolate chip cookies. “You’ll notice, with my designs, there’s a lot of repetition. When you speak of the chairs, you might be speaking of the 99 that hang from the ceiling [in Potato Chips]. Not all of them are the same, but they’re in the same genre. When I see all of those in repetition, it pleases my eye. It’s about building a collection. For me, I focus in on something, and I can see the big picture, and I think the big picture looks better when you’re seeing things from different angles. It’s a better study,” said Steven Arroyo, owner and designer of Potato Chips Deli. Arroyo’s design choices at the new Potato Chips Deli give off a, “everything old is new again” vibe. Customers sit on vintage, red, metal chairs while antique, wooden chairs hang from the ceiling above them. There is an unusual, yet beautifully patterned, ‘70s style tiling on the floor and maritime-themed paintings line the walls, instantly calming anyone who looks at them. “With only eight sandwiches to choose from, simplicity with high quality is what sets Potato Chips apart. My personal favorite right now is the new caprese sandwich made with creamy burrata but it changes every week. I’m really looking forward to meeting new customers and having them fall in love with our revamped product just like I have,” said Potato Chips Deli’s manager, Amanda Kobritz. Customers can choose between a caprese, turkey, eggplant parmesan, tuna, meatball, Italian, roast beef or steak sandwich. Sandwiches at Potato Chips are now being served on crunchy, yet soft ciabatta bread that is delivered fresh each morning from a local baker. The wide variety of potato chips, including specialty brands like Utz, Zappos, and Cape Cod, are still available for purchase. Drink options like jarritos, mexi cola and iced tea remain the same but with the addition of a refreshing cold brew (iced coffee, not beer) and homemade mint lemonade. Kobritz’s freshly baked cookies are exceptional, and although the recipe is under wraps, rumor has it that they include oatmeal, prunes, chocolate chips and walnuts. With over 300 sandwiches sold today, and even more people just stopping by to check out the new place, it clear that the decision to relocate, redesign and reopen Potato Chips Deli was done in great taste.
